Lilac Afghan Plissé Dress Circa 1970s
In beautiful shades of lilac reminiscent of a beautiful fading flower petal. These special dresses were made in the late 1960s- 1970s out of Afghani burkas. Silk embroidered designs cover the front yoke and back neckline.
Fabric composition no label I believe the body and sleeves (pleated sections) are rayon and the yoke is cotton with silk embroidery.
Size unmarked - I would consider this to be Free Size
Across chest ( end of yoke) 50cm
Sleeve length 52cm
Length 144cm
Condition good, There are some small holes on the sleeves and some small patches of discoloration ( refer to images) these get lost inside the pleats when worn and do not take away from the piece - please refer to images.
It should be noted that fabric is sun faded creating the tonal effect with changes in shades of lilac throughout which in my opinion is what makes this piece so magical and special!
