Puff ball skirt in cotton drill, wide pleats to waistband, puff hem is attached to a internal fitted skirt. Zip and button closure at centre back.
John Crancher was born in Aberdeen and came to London in the late 70s, starting his career selling garments in Kensington market. Crancher created avant-garde designs without any formal fashion training, he was particularly known for his long shirts with fish tail hems and his romantic yet punk inspired menswear. He had two runway shows, in Olympia and in New York, after which he renamed his Kensington Market stall L'anarchie (he also ran a club night called Anarchy), his designs were also stocked in Browns. John Crancher died from AIDs in 1993 at the age of 33.
Currently pieces from John Crancher are on show at the Outlaw- Fashion Renegades exhibition at the Museum of Fashion and Textiles in London.
