Showcasing Helen David's amazing textile design these silk trousers have an elasticated waist and tapered at the ankle for a relaxed fit. These were styled at the time with the matching oversized silk shirt dress worn on top. The unusual print incorporates spirals and palmistry hands.
Circa 1984 these are from one of English Eccentrics very first collections, similar English Eccentrics pieces have recently been on display at Outlaws: Fashion Renegades of 80s London exhibition at London's Fashion and Textile Museum. Named after Edith Sitwell's book of the same title, English Eccentrics established an international reputation for its distinct printed textiles designed by Helen David, née Littman since they were first sold at a stall in London's Kensington Market in 1984.
Screen-printed and discharge-dyed silk fabric.
