Betty Jackson 'The Cloth' 1985 Abstract Design Blouse
Founded in 1983 by David Band, Brian Bolger, Helen Manning and Fraser Taylor, ‘The Cloth’ – so-named because of their shared background in textiles – was an interdisciplinary London-based design studio, set up with the intention to facilitate movement between fine art and design projects.
Within The Cloth each member produced work to individual commission in parallel with collective projects; these included Brian Bolger’s renown exuberant designs for Betty Jackson. Disbanding in 1988, 'The Cloth’s' design work forms part of the iconography of the Eighties.
